What could be more delicious than the silky and creamy caramel? It’s a perfect dessert for kids and adults as well. It can be made in many ways, so we will tell you two different recipes for making caramel. Here we will discuss the step-by-step process in detail.
Recipe no 1
Ingredients
Butter
Milk
1 ½ cup granulated sugar
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup water
1 cup cream (at room temperature)
5 tablespoon butter (unsalted) or vanilla essence
Whisker
Pastry brush
Method
Step 1
First of all, you need to take some safety measures since bubbles are made during caramel preparation to harm your skin. It is better to wear long sleeves and an apron while making it. Or heated sugar can splatter and stain your clothes.
Step 2
Take a solid surface pot and add 1 ½ cup granulated sugar. Now pour ¼ cup water in it and mix sugar with the water. Turn the flame on but keep it low. Else it could burn the sugar. Take a whisker and constantly stir sugar to avoid any lumps in it. Granulated sugar works best for caramel; therefore, avoid using powdered sugar because it contains many impurities.
Step 3
During the heating, sugar reaches the sides of the pot and makes crystals, so take a pastry brush and dip it in water, then wipe the sides to remove those crystals. Lemon juice is also used to prevent crystallization, but it is suggested to add lemon juice at the start when sugar is being dissolved in water.
Step 4
When you see that sugar starts foaming, then turn the flame off and add 1 cup cream. Stir constantly when you are adding cream to avoid lumps.
Step 5
The next step is to add butter to it. Take 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter and add it to the mixture. Mix all these ingredients very well to get smooth caramel. If you see any lump in the caramel, whisk it forcefully until it dissolves. If you want to make vanilla caramel sauce instead of butter caramel, add 1 teaspoon vanilla essence to the mixture as you remove the pot from the stove. Vanilla might splatter for a couple of seconds, so be careful while adding it. The stove during the whole process.
